Enjoyed and loved by many! The St Mary’s Centre is owned by St. Mary's Parish Church and is managed by the Centre Committee with elected representatives from both church and user groups. Sited in Church Chare, Whickham it comprises a large hall and theatre, a smaller hall, kitchen facilities and meeting rooms. The Centre is open seven days a week. Over 28,000 people visit and use the Centre each year; enjoying good facilities accessible to both disabled and abled bodied alike. A Home for everyone!
The St Mary’s Centre & Rectory Hall is used by a large number of groups. There's a diverse range of activities including all the usual favourites from coffee mornings to Beavers, Cubs & Scout meetings, as well as some wonderful surprises. There's Community Music Whickham & Swalwell offering the finest tuition in cello, violin and viols… and handbells! And if you're a little older and want to learn new stuff why not try out the University of the Third Age? We have a ‘drop in’ too, open to all people once a week on a Tuesday 10am-12noon….it’s called ‘Mary’s Place’. There are so many things going on, try out something new today! Groups are always looking for members.
